PUNE: The southern command of the Indian Army organised an armed forces Veterans Day rally at the Bombay
Engineering Group (BEG) and Centre at Khadki.
As many as 2,300 veterans including gallantry award winners and Veer Naris participated in the rally. They had come from various parts of the state.
The rally was organised to mark the Veterans Day and as a part of Indian Army’s efforts to reach out to its veterans and war widows to sensitise them on subjects such as entitlements, new welfare schemes introduced by the centre and the state government.
"Various stalls from different Record Offices of the regiments were established for resolving pension anomalies and particularly for implementing the recent increase in pension scale. Moreover, the stalls for Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Canteen Stores Department (CSD) Smart Card, Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Army Welfare Placement Organisations (AWPO) and other welfare agencies were installed at the venue," said an army officer.
Ex-servicemen registered themselves with the representives of the Army Placement Node (APN) presented at the rally, which provided an insight into the job opportunites post retirement, according to the sources.
Nationalised Banks like SBI, ICICI, HDFC, PNB, Bank of Maharashtra and Bank of India had also contributed in the rally and established stalls to disseminate information on various financial schemes and previleges offered to exservicemen and the Veer Naris.
