The Odisha Seba Nibrut Karmachari Sikshyaka Vikas Manch, a body fighting for the causes of superannuated employees, supported the agitating Block Grant teachers demanding job regularisation, post retirement benefits and pension.
Manch secretary Syam Sundar Khadanga in a statement condemned the apathy of the State Government to the teachers and lamented that in spite of several rounds of discussions with the Government, the legitimate demands of the superannuated employees are ignored.
Khadanga pointed out that the retired teachers and other employees of Odisha under the State Government are deprived of the several allowances though their Central counterparts are availing them.
The Odisha Government is not implementing even the recommendation of the Fitment Committee, he alleged.
Similarly, the State Government is paying Rs 8,300 as minimum pension to its employees as against Rs 9,000 fixed by the Central Government. As a result, the retired employees are losing a quite a sizeable amount of their pension every month, Khadanga told.
He informed that the Manch will hold a meeting in Bhubaneswar on September 25 to chalk out further strategy for the legitimate claims of the retired employees in the State.
